Artist Statement: This piece represents social norms and its effects on society. Surgery is a common way of being able to change our insecurities. Many surgeries are done in the mindset of what society portrays as beautiful. In my makeup look I chose to Incorporate the before and after effects of what plastic surgery does. From planning to the bruising stages, I wanted to capture someone who did it because they wanted to fit into society and it shows through facial expressions that does not fix their self-esteem.
