Artist Statement: This piece is inspired by a story my mom told me about how she was walking to elementary school and her dog at the time, Shawnee, wouldn’t stop following her. She had to get the principal to call home and pick the dog up. I primarily used materials from my mom’s belongings at the time of the illustrated story, and I incorporated them accordingly.
