Artist Statement: In this self portrait I wanted to demonstrate the tense feelings that I felt during the development of my mother’s illness. I wanted to evoke the feeling of uneasiness and exhaustion by emphasizing my tired eyes. The hands are a symbol for the obstacles my family and I had to face.
