Artist Statement: While constructing this portfolio, I was guided by the question “How can I re-examine classic Greek Myths through a Queer/Feminist lens?” because I wanted to depict the experiences of overlooked figures in the myths that have guided popular culture for centuries. By connecting Greek myths to modern social issues, re-framing misrepresented heroines and monsters, and carving out spaces for underrepresented groups, I hope to create a fresh take on classic stories and prove to a modern audience that there are still lessons to be learned from them.
