Artist Statement: My artwork reflects my senior year, a time when I thought about moving from youth to adulthood and remembered important moments from those years. My senior year felt like a turning point—part of me was still in high school, while the other part faced an uncertain future. The work I’ve submitted responds to this change and looks at how memories from that final year shape who we are and how we see the world. I often reflect on the friendships, moments, and feelings I experienced during that time. I felt a mix of excitement and nostalgia for what was coming to an end. To convey the concept of change and the passage of time, I captured specific scenes, such as the last soccer game and the first and last senior sunrise. Each of these moments included people I had grown up with over the past three to almost four years.
This work lets me reflect on my past and think about my future. It helps me keep memories that have shaped who I am while accepting the changes and uncertainties that lie ahead.
