Artist Statement:
Inspired by Patrick Angus’ piece “J.B. standing in Drag”, the artwork Sasha Colby, a drag queen who challenges the harmful labels placed on drag queens. This work is meant to represent Drag Queens in a positive light, showcasing their beauty and artistry. Drag queens are performers, but most of all they are walking art. The Drag Queens striking pose conveys the confidence that they hold of their art. The contour lines of the symmetrical environment emphasizes the focus onto the drag queen.
