Artist Statement:
The photos that I selected are based on film noir, a style of videography and photography, but I focused on photography. I wanted to capture the eerie feeling of darkness and the contrast of black and white. Also, I wanted to highlight how color is a huge decider on the feeling of the images. I think that if these photos were in color, then it wouldn’t feel so eerie or cold, but being in black and white, it has a much different feeling. These pictures usually don’t represent who I am, but I wanted to expand my horizons, and see if I could go further beyond what I was comfortable with. Using different light sources, mostly artificial light sources(ex. flashlight), I was able to capture the essence of film noir.
