Artist Statement:
For my freshman year art final, I wanted to experiment with realism using acrylic paint, and I chose to paint a close up of an apple. This piece had an emphasis on color mixing, allowing me to create a variety of shades and highlights that would bring this apple to life. The water droplets posed a real challenge because it required detailed highlights and gentle shading to create a smooth transition between the colors. I wanted to emphasize on how the water droplets blend and reflect on the surface of the apple.
