Artist Statement:
My artwork is a drawing made with oil pastels and vegetable oil. I wanted to explore the idea of yin and yang by combining the traditional symbols with two fishes swimming in a circle. I was inspired by how yin and yang teach us that balance exists everywhere, even in nature. To create a transparent effect, I used vegetable oil to smooth and mix the oil pastels, which gave the drawing a shiny, almost “stained-glass” look. This project taught me how experimenting with unusual materials, like oil, can create cool textures.
