Artist Statement: My creative inspiration for my art comes from a mix of several different sources. I do draw a lot of inspiration from my Mexican culture and identity since overall that is one of the most important things to me as a person. I try to incorporate aspects of my culture into my art. For me, my upbringing in Mexico showcased the rich culture and art that my country is filled with and that is often underappreciated. Which is something that I really tried to represent while taking photography because around half of my portfolio is fixed on Mexico and my identity to it. I also gain a lot of my inspiration from frequently underrepresented issues because I am inspired to be that voice for many in ways art can showcase. Being inspired by people’s resilience and creativity is something that is truly so special to me, yet it has not been talked about enough. Hearing every unique story helps me motivate myself to create distinctive work that can hopefully resonate with someone out there.
