Artist Statement:
My picture came from a collection in which I investigate the hidden parts of Chicago, often grotesque, and elevate them through formal uses of photography. Within these pictures, I explore color and texture. With my first submission, New Chicago, I wanted to elevate what people see as a “wasteland,” and turn it into a photograph that deliberately shows the prevalence of nature and the beauty I’ve always seen it as.
