Artist Statement:
I made this piece for worldbuilding purposes, depicting my two original characters, Kelphie and Para. In this painting, Para (the one to the right) is stressing about an exam for a class that starts in two minutes, the title of this piece being the current time this moment is in. Kelphie’s there for emotional support since she’s not taking the same classes as Para and is just trying to help her not fail. As a character, Para’s excentric while Kelphie is more closed off, and I illustrated this in my painting by having Para be more expressive while Kelphie’s face isn’t even visible. It’s these little things that really bring these silly little people I, one day, just decided to draw, and it’s really satisfying seeing it come together. I find it fun to both flesh out how my characters would act in a world and build on traits they have, even if it’s just showing how they have really bad time management – because, after all, that’s what makes them human.
