Artist Statement: Through my body of work, I attempted to explore the broad trope of misogyny through the different expectations set for women. My independent pieces are inspired by a variety of experiences that come from different facets of womanhood, both connected to sexualization of “female” anatomy, as well as the degradation of traits that are considered feminine. These pieces are linked visually through not only their subject material, but also their composition. In order to center women in their own issues, each artwork features only women, although some are implied, such as a wig that mirrors a woman or a necklace.
