Description: Two old friends reunite after what seems like years. One of them takes off his hat to show his loss of hair as the other quickly does the same. Their appearances may of changed but their bond seems have stayed the same
Artist Statement: Everyday moments fascinate me by bringing unexpected warmth and, at times, humor. It’s as if these small experiences snap me back into reality as I often catch myself daydreaming throughout the day. However, these aren’t my memories. They’re experiences and subtle moments that I happen to discover, yet they may not seem interesting to most. By using drawings I’m retaining my imaginative thinking while setting the stage with a photographed background I captured myself. These mundane experiences assist me when it comes to connecting this feeling of comfortability in my illustrations. Although fictional, the characters within my third piece feel “at home” with one another. A simple activity such as fixing a child’s hairdo could be transformed into a powerful memory that both individuals could cherish forever. Essentially, human interaction and meaningful relationships are the very thing that make our lives feel so fulfilled.
