Description: In my artwork, I am trying to achieve realism while also following the requirements of the project. By using Vitos colored pencil techniques, I was able to include shadows and light areas of my drawing, giving it the realism aspect that I was striving for. What I learned from mixing differend colored pencils was that I would get very weird and different colors and in order to achieve the ‘realism’ affect that I was going for, I had to plan out the different colors that I was going to use in order to achieve this goal. After using the first two opposite colored layers as my base, I would then add over the base, the highlights of the object (essentially building up the main color of the object). I would use yellow and orange for the ‘highlights’, or where the light would be hitting the objects. Then I would use blue and violet for the shadows of the object. This way I met all of the requirements while also keeping the realism aspect of my artwork.
I would say that the most successful part of this project would be the techniques that I used to achieve the main goal that I wanted to reach. I would use Vito’s techniques while incorporating some of my ideas into it. An example of this would be what I did to achieve the lights and darks of the artwork. One problem that I faced was time constraints. At the beginning of this project, I didnt really have any ideas as what I wanted to accomplish so I had to choose a topic very last minute. Since that topic was architecture, I decided to have the Chrysler Building, in New York, be my main focus. However, that would lead to many problems as there were so many details on the building itself that there was no possible way for me to finish it for a week at school. So I had to work over time at home to make sure that I complete this project. I guess you could say that I also had a planning problem.
