Artist Statement: Small Red Boy was named after and inspired by a song by AJJ. I’ve made multiple art pieces that were motivated by this song and the different interpretations I have gotten out of it. This specific comic can have any interpretation from overcoming religious guilt, accepting others for who they are, or it can be as simple as a soft story about an unlikely family. Whichever meaning people get out of this piece, it can be the right one. Any meaning that resonates with you is correct.
