Description/Artist Statement: In this painting I decided to use acrylic for the portrait of my baby cousin and water colors for the background. In the background I decided to incorporate some painted flowers to go with this piece since they are flowers that remind me of one of the most beautiful places in my home town Mexico “La barranca de oblatos”. In this piece I thought about my baby cousin and how he brought me joy and happiness into my life. I wanted to paint a self portrait dedicated to my baby cousin to show that babies are important and that it is a process we all went through to be where we are now. I decided to put the flowers with the painting all together since flowers grow and die just like baby’s come to life. but at a certain time our time comes, this both joined in pretty good since they both showed beauty in life. I also decided to paint in some circles in the background with silver water color to add more abstract work into my piece and make my piece shine.
