Artist Statement: The process of this painting was unique for me, and I enjoyed creating the subtle differences from the shadows to the light. I made an underpainting of green and red, so the green in the shadows contrasts the warmth and brightness of the light across her eyes.
This painting is like finally knowing something. Eerily kept in the dark, like a secret that only you don’t know. It reminds me of a point in your life when everything changes and you’re not ready to move on. To me, this painting feels like growing up.
