Description: The differences us women hold empowers one another
Artist Statement: My artwork piece is called “Amethyst.” I wanted to create a piece of work in honor of Black History Month, as well as Women’s History Month. This piece means a lot to me as I want to show my audience just how important representation in art is. I took inspiration from real quotes stated by powerful women and even got inspired by people I’ve seen in order to draw this project out. I chose to name the piece Amethyst for the February birthstone to signify the empowerment and strength that women of color can really hold.
