Artist Statement: The artwork that I have created for a perspective practice assignment, titled “Magical Sunset”, is a two point perspective view on a city-like setting. The canvas dimensions are 11 by 7 1/2 inches. The city is shaded with purple and blue colors and is highlighted with yellows to mimic a sunset coming from the right side of the piece. A dragon and a blimp are both present as 3d paper additions to the artwork. My piece uses watercolor paint as a base as well as colored pencils being used for lineart and details on the houses and buildings in the art piece. I used a lot of light values for the base colors of the city while using darker values of those same colors to give the piece defined lineart as well as shading coming from each edge of the 2 points of the perspective drawing.
