Artist Statement: I have titled the first work “The Lady.” I have tried to capture both her fear and her sense of power as she looks at the world around her– a world that judges her and, in many cases, threatens her. However, she meets that world with an inner strength and confidence. I used colored pencils and markers and contrasting colors to try to capture this portrait.
