Artist Statement: I was inspired by traditional lancing helmets used in the medieval ages. I wanted to create a knight in a full suit of armor. I decided to do this by working with just a pen, using hatching to create depth, define angles, and provide shading. I started at the helmet and use it as a reference for size as I finished the body, working downwards until I ran out of paper. The reason I only used a pen was because it was the only drawing utensil near me, but a lot of my works that I do on my own are made of pen. This work means a lot to me, because even with it’s errors, I consider it one of the better pieces I’ve made.
