Artist Statement: There is a specific point in life where one starts to lose their innocence. The inspiration for this sculpture came from Soap Bubbles by Jean Simeon Chardin because he focuses on the innocence of children. There was a little twist to the sculpture by merging nature and an inanimate object that is considered to be killer, a cigarette. An ethically sourced butterfly was used to showcase the specific point in life. When looking at this piece I wanted the audience to feel self aware of themselves and what they have gone through in life.
