Artist Statement: My hybrid piece is a mixture between human features and a butterfly. Personally, butterflies represent delicacy and innocence. Therefore, I wanted to use butterflies as a metaphor for my somewhat shy and delicate personality. Additionally, I believe butterflies can represent how I can be complex or hard to interpret and I connected this part of me to the intricate patterns and uniqueness each butterfly wing has. Lastly, I choose to incorporate the upside-down face that shows a more solemn face but from upside down, there is a smile, to further enforce the idea that my persona can be interpreted in different ways from different angles and viewpoints.
