Artist Statement: Needles is the experience felt when someone is lightheaded. The slight head tilts that make you feel weightless yet so heavy. Constant heating and cooling running through one’s veins, through the face and spine, all starting from your brain. I’ve given this piece the title of Needles as a reference to pins and needles, along with the various feelings and emotions that follow. The flowing, yet rough lines that run along the face imitate the nerves felt under the skin and the constant sudden change in temperature when it comes to being lightheaded. I’ve attempted to communicate these common emotions through illustration and give elegant form to what is known as an unsettling and unwanted experience.
