Artist Statement: This piece is called: Red Riding Fool Inspired by the Grimm Brothers’ tale: Little Red Riding Hood, this piece illustrates the naivety of its protagonist. Elements are pulled from Shazia Sikander’s Hoods Red Rider II, which is meant to to contrast its representation of female strength, such as the yellow-greens and repetition of red dots represent Little Red’s innocence clouding her judgment to not fall off the cliff, an element from the tarot card, The Fool. The white lily in her hand also adds to the innocent imagery.
