Artist Statement: A story of two young boys, who went through hardships to finally be together. But hadn’t had very long at all, in the end. Inspired by a poem by Robert Herrick, “To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time.” Especially the lines, “Then be not coy, but use your time, And while ye may, go marry; For having lost but once your prime, You may forever tarry.” Emphasizing the point “Carpe Diem.” My painting is about these two young poets seizing their opportunity to be together.
