Artist Statement: As one of my first projects in needle felting, I decided to felt something close to my heart. Chicago Chinatown. This place resonates with me from my childhood and though some stores come and go, the structure of Chinatown will never change. The classic teal buildings with red rooftops. From the repetitive stabbing motions of the needle to the felt, the steady poking, placing more wool on places to create not an exact but the Chinatown through my perspective. I am interested in all different materials that correlate with fashion. Through experimentation, any tool, fabric, thread, yarn, any material will never hinder me to try as these interest me due to my growing love for textiles.
