Artist Statement: This piece I made represents my identity because I used the world to portray my likes and interests. I want to get closer to nature this year and go outside more that’s why the setting is outside. I have autism and i’m proud of it. the symbol of autism is puzzle pieces. I put things that had been in my life for a long time and my favorite interests. I used skyscrapers and buildings, such as the y because those places are part of my life. I live close to downtown so I thought about putting material things there the balloons in the air represent making the new you cause we all deserve to get better. The outfit I’m wearing is from the anime jojo’s bizzare adventure the character who wears it is called josuke. It’s his school uniform but the purple pants and top and yellow under shirt works so well and the character stands for others when they can’t that’s something i want to grow to do this year for the “new year new you” that this piece represents. Josuke is one of the most complex people.
