Artist Statement: I love fruit. Strawberries are naturally occurring complementary fruits. The red in strawberries is the color of passion, love, and vibrancy. By mixing acrylic blue and yellow, I was able to achieve green. Before I found the right color I had to mix different levels of blues and yellows. The green brings a sense of calm in the fiery throws of the strawberry. The white streaks are used to accentuate the highlights and shadows. The right side almost melts into the background, I was inspired by melted ice cream. Before I created the berry, I outlined it in pencil and then painted over it. I messed up on the leaves but painted over them.
