For Winter Showcase students further developed specific cinema skills in screenwriting, directing, lighting, and editing. They wrote, storyboarded and filmed original fictional screenplays based on their own real-life experiences. They further developed their editing skills with the production of short documentary “diary films’ that included original voice over narration. Blocking was explored with the production of in-class “long take” short films. And we practiced cinematography techniques through a “lighting challenge.” Finally all students were able to create a final film in the form and subject of their choosing – documentary, experimental, or fiction film.
