Artist Statement: Headscarves are mostly worn by Muslims, but their meaning is recognized by millions all over the world. Gaining inspiration from the religious culture that I am apart of, I was able to depict the reality about Islam. This was done by drawing a lady with a headscarf on which signifies purity. The reason the hijab is worn is to preserve virtue and force others to see who you are on the inside. Following the graphite, the red line across the eyes continues to add meaning.
