Artist Statement: I wanted to represent the theme of the struggles that people of color face, which are immigrants in this artwork. Through the butterflies that represent their migration. The enclosed face in a jar represents the feeling of being trapped in society, therefore, it represents the struggles that come with migrating into a new country.
