Artist Statement: Ostara. The forgotten Anglo-Saxon Goddess of the Spring, Bringer of the Eastern Dawn. She is the warm wind, the song of returning birds, the kiss of new life, the budding of trees, the thaw of a babbling stream.
My “Forgotten Goddesses” sculpture series features discarded goddesses of various world religions. I commune with their essence, sculpting it into these raw idols whose temples are now our modern galleries. Through the ‘worship’ of art patrons, the spirit of these goddesses will live once again in our minds and hearts.
