Artist Statement: This piece was created at Intuit: Art After Work Open Studio Workshop in early of 2020. As I was looking at a stack of magazines, I came across a flower catalogue and art collection prints. I was playing with the idea of The Great Wave and a wave of flowers: the force of waves crashing down upon its path vs. an abundant flow of flowers. I also wanted to show the softness of the lines as wood grain countered with the pointed ends of toothpicks to represent thorns.
