Artist Statement: Inspired by “Bombardment” by Philip Guston, I incorporated two main elements. The perspective and the mood of the work. I wanted to create a sense of desperation from the model’s facial expression. Unlike Guston’s portrayal of civilians during the Spanish War; I show a man vs.self scenario, a war within themselves. The background provides an emphasis on the fish-eye perspective and the disarray of one’s mental state when placed in this position. The red symbolizes transparency between dimensions.
