Artist Statement: My mom and I have a bit of a strained relationship, but she is still the strongest person I know, and I really look up to her. This drawing is based off of an image which captured this moment between a mother and her first child. She’s enamored with the baby in front of her, and she’s very happy. The candid nature of our interaction shows how real the emotions were, and the audience can observe the pure joy and love, and see the value in how easy relationships with parents were prior to getting older.
