Artist Statement: My name is Dalila Mendez and I am a Senior at the Chicago High School of the Arts. My choice of medium would be oil paint, But as years went on during my time at Chiarts I have begun experimenting with many different mediums such as charcoal, watercolor, and colored pencil. Experimenting with different mediums is important to my artistic practice because each medium can contribute their own texture and style to my work. Conceptually I enjoy painting portraits and love the idea of being able to show human interaction through pieces I have made. My concentration is focused upon different ways we show affection and will be personal artwork including my family/close friends, most including me.
