Artist Statement: Imagine getting a call that your stepmom has had a stroke, fallen, and is in the hospital. Imagine seven adults and three kids surrounding a bed for five days. Praying that she’ll wake up. My daughter has always had to move. A lot. Everyday, all day. I couldn’t keep her at that hospital for five days, so I took her to the park. This painting is capturing that moment. It reminds me of that heartrending time at the hospital, while also giving me a spark of joy at her constant swinging, dancing, jumping LIFE.
