Artist Statement: My artwork “Pay It No Mind!” which centers around Marsha P. Johnson is about how Marsha struggled with a lot of things in her life but was always able to push through and smile it out. I wanted to make this piece of her sparkle and really emphasize on the warm happy tones of the piece for the audience. My reason for making the piece was to portray Marsha in a way that showed her as the real caring person she was, to give her all the life she vibrated to all those around her.
