Artist Statement: I have created this piece to show more black people, preferably the ones in the LGBTQ community, in a wonderful art form. As an African American woman who is also part of the LGBTA community, I wanted to bring more awareness to this side of the community. This piece is important to me, not only to help the youth of the African American community to see themselves in an art form, but also the ones who are a part of the LGBTQ community.
