Artist Statement: This piece is a inside the pressure beauty standards have on women. There is a portrait of a young woman posing for a picture. If you look at her face, you will notice that she has a crack on her face. The picture is on instagram, a social media platform that in a way pushes these unrealistic beauty standards. Many women try to live up to these standards and crack under pressure, like the girl is in the drawing. The negative comments of others only make this pressure worse.
