Students explored concepts of visual storytelling through cinema by creating experimental, documentary, and genre films. We began to define the language of cinema through composition, shot size and shot selection; the elements of an expressionistic soundtrack; how to control information over time through editing; and creating feeling and emotion through lighting. We also began to discuss how to work on a film crew and how to collaborate.
