Artist Statement: I created this piece during quarantine to help navigate the uncertainty of what’s been going on. I really feel like a lot of what’s happening has both good and bad things, hence yin and yang. I chose to use food for this piece because I find fruit to be associated with summer and the bright colors help to give the situation a more positive outlook. With sunflower, I wanted to create something representative of nature because quarantine has really helped me to appreciate the beauty we’re constantly surrounded by and how much these things can improve your mood. I really want viewers to feel calm or happy with these pieces because of the summer theme and the relation to mood during this very uncertain time.
