Artist Statement: My concept for this piece is, looks are deceiving, and I chose this concept based on my life. I wanted to show major parts of my life that are not seen by most. Outside of my home I’m always positive and cheerful with friends and family but never show the other side that was dealing with family issues and was hurting from it. So I wanted to show off how not everything that you see is what it actually is. There’s more than one point of view and that’s what inspired the piece and what I based it off of. I used materials I had around my house to make this piece and I wanted to give a natural look. I cut up plastic water bottles to make vines that come down from the piece and used paper to create the flowers. I added a mirror in the middle of the piece to get the viewers to see themselves.
