Artist Statement: In February of 2018, my aunt was diagnosed with Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) which is a type of Breast cancer. The wire forms represent the stages she went through in her cancer journey (starting on the lowest form to the top): a few lumps, more lumps, single mastectomy, and finally reconstruction. My aunt is one of many strong female figures in my life and to see such a strong woman go through such a horrific and debilitating journey and survive, changed me as a person. This piece represents how strong women, especially the ones in my life, are and us women never let anything stop us from living our lives.
