Artist Statement: This artwork was created based off of a picture taken of me as I look out of an airplane window on my way to Vietnam. The meaning behind it was to display how music and excitement can strongly affect one’s emotions. On the right are threads sewn similar to the colors in the picture. It represents how I looked on the outside – composed. However, on the left, I used more colorful threads to express the excitement I was feeling going back to Vietnam after 10 years. The bright colors also express how the music I was listening to was also making me feel – enlivened. The fabric was dyed a light blue to exhibit the view that I was looking at outside of the airplane window and the feeling of being high in the sky.
