Artist Statement: The title of my piece is called Chapter 17: The Black burden. I made this piece for the awareness of the black tragedy that happened 187 ago years and still happens in different forms today. My piece means freedom and expression of issues that I personally go through, including people of color. What I am trying to say in my poem is I am human and being prejudice towards black people out of irrational fear is terrible.
