Artist Statement: I chose primary colors to depict how gossip is a primary role within family parties as the cake depicts an entire family while the piece of cake depicts rumors. Parties to me have become a gathering of harsh conversation rather than celebration as a family’s image can be beautiful on the outside, but the secrets and gossip keep a family together. The blood on the piece of cakes represents blood that binds family together while the dripping shows the damaging impact rumors can have on the state of family’s emotional stability.
