Description: My favorite people!
Artist Statement: My earliest memory of making art is when I would create pretend food and run a restaurant with my siblings and cousins. This got me interested in shadows and shapes and to how to make 2D drawings look 3D. This pretend restaurant with hand drawn food was the start of my art journey. My inspiration would come from food, nature, movies, and more recently Pinterest and Instagram. I’m drawn to pictures with bright colors, interesting filters, unique characters, and even nostalgic animations. Although there is inspiration everywhere, the planning stages of art and narrowing down a design or direction bores me. This is why I find it so easy to color in coloring books. It’s guided but also interpretive. The color scheme and outcome is completely up to me!
The feeling I get when I feel that my creative flow is running over is unmatched. Beyond my high school art class, I want to get better at using procreate and get into more tangible art forms like sewing, knitting, and crocheting. The creative process for making wearable art is similar, as a pattern, color scheme, and specific fabric is needed. Although I want to start learning more about these different art mediums, I know there will be more room for frustration and procrastination. Still, I want to explore these new art mediums and push my creativity to the next level.
